Privacy Policy
In effect from
RightLawIndia (“RightLawIndia”, “we”, “us” or “our”) operates the website rightlawindia.com (the “Platform”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, and the rights available to you under applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it. By using the Platform or submitting your information to us, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Information you provide directly. When you request a callback or consultation, you provide your name, phone number and a short description of your legal matter. If you contact us or create an account, you may also provide your email address and any other details you choose to share.
- Advocate registration information. If you register as an advocate, we collect your professional details — including your name, Bar Council enrolment number, practice areas, courts, city, contact details, experience and any documents you submit for verification.
- Information collected automatically. When you visit the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit, through cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Connect you with verified advocates and arrange the callback or consultation you request.
- Create, manage and verify advocate listings and accounts.
- Operate, maintain, improve and personalise the Platform.
- Respond to your enquiries, provide customer support and send service-related communications.
- Detect, prevent and address fraud, misuse, security issues and technical problems.
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
3. Consent and legal basis
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you provide when you submit your information or use the Platform, and for the legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (see “Your rights” below); withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as described here:
- With advocates. When you request a callback or consultation, we share your contact details and matter description with the advocate(s) you have chosen or requested, so they can respond to you.
- With service providers. We may share data with trusted third parties who provide services on our behalf — such as hosting, analytics, communications and customer support — under obligations of confidentiality and data protection.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information where required by law, court order or a lawful request by a public authority, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
5. Consent to be contacted
By submitting your phone number through the Platform, you expressly authorise RightLawIndia and the advocate(s) you request to contact you by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email in connection with your enquiry, even if your number is registered on the National Do Not Call (NDNC) / Do Not Disturb (DND) registry. This consent is limited to your enquiry and any related follow-up.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Platform working, remember your preferences and understand how the Platform is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function properly if you do.
7. Data retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it.
8. Data security
We implement reasonable security practices and procedures, including appropriate technical and organisational measures, to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
