Terms and Conditions

In effect from 15 September 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website rightlawindia.com and the services offered on it (together, the “Platform”), operated by RightLawIndia (“RightLawIndia”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. About the Platform

RightLawIndia is an online directory and information platform that helps users find and connect with independent advocates in India. RightLawIndia is not a law firm, is not a party to any engagement between you and an advocate, and does not practise law or provide legal advice, legal opinions or legal representation of any kind. No advocate–client relationship is created between you and RightLawIndia by your use of the Platform.

2. No legal advice

Information on the Platform — including legal guides, IPC-to-BNS references, practice-area descriptions and advocate profiles — is provided for general informational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified advocate. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of any content on the Platform without obtaining professional legal advice specific to your circumstances.

3. No advertising or solicitation

RightLawIndia does not advertise or solicit work on behalf of any advocate. The Platform is an independent information resource. Any advocate listing is published for the purpose of providing information to users who seek such information of their own accord. Nothing on the Platform is to be construed as an advertisement, solicitation, inducement or invitation for professional engagement by any advocate, and no advocate listed on the Platform is soliciting work through it. Your decision to contact or engage any advocate is made entirely on your own initiative.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a legally binding contract under Indian law to use the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

5. Verification and no guarantee

We take reasonable steps to verify an advocate’s Bar Council registration before publishing a listing. However, verification is limited to the information and documents available to us and does not constitute a guarantee, endorsement or recommendation. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or currency of any advocate’s profile, qualifications, experience, availability, fees, or the quality or outcome of any legal services. You are responsible for conducting your own due diligence before engaging any advocate.

6. Relationship between you and advocates

Any consultation, engagement, fee arrangement, advice or service is strictly between you and the advocate you choose. RightLawIndia is not responsible for, and disclaims all liability arising from, the acts, omissions, advice, conduct, fees or services of any advocate listed on or contacted through the Platform.

7. Callbacks and enquiries

When you request a callback or consultation, you consent to your contact details and matter description being shared with the relevant advocate(s) and to being contacted by them and by us, as described in our Privacy Policy. The “free first call” is an initial call offered at no cost; any subsequent services, fees or engagement are agreed directly between you and the advocate.

8. Terms for registered advocates

If you register as an advocate, you additionally agree that:

  • You are currently enrolled with a State Bar Council recognised by the Bar Council of India and are entitled to practise law in India.
  • All information you provide is true, accurate, current and complete, and you will keep it updated.
  • Your use of the Platform complies with the Advocates Act, 1961, the Bar Council of India Rules (including the rules on advertising and solicitation) and all other applicable laws and professional standards.
  • You are solely responsible for your dealings with users, including the advice and services you provide and the fees you charge.
  • You grant RightLawIndia the right to display the information you submit as part of your listing, and you will indemnify us against any claim arising from that information or from your conduct.

We may verify, decline, suspend or remove any listing at our discretion.

9. Fees

Use of the Platform is currently free for users seeking advocates. Any fees payable for legal services are set by and paid to the advocate directly, and RightLawIndia is not a party to that arrangement.

10. User content, reviews and ratings

If you submit reviews, ratings or other content, you confirm that it is accurate, based on genuine experience, lawful and not defamatory, and you grant RightLawIndia a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display and moderate it. We may edit or remove content that we consider false, abusive, unlawful or in breach of these Terms.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose.
  • Post false, misleading, defamatory, obscene or infringing content.
  • Scrape, copy, harvest or misuse advocate data or Platform content.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Platform’s operation or security.
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.

12. Intellectual property

The Platform and its content — including text, guides, design, logos, trademarks and software — are owned by or licensed to RightLawIndia and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our prior written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.

13. Third-party links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites and resources. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, products or practices of those third parties, and access to them is at your own risk.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RightLawIndia and its owners, employees and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Platform, your reliance on any content, or your dealings with any advocate. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform shall not exceed one thousand Indian Rupees (₹1,000) or the amount you paid to us in the preceding twelve months, whichever is greater.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RightLawIndia and its owners, employees and partners from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with your use of the Platform, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

17. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and handle your personal data. By using the Platform, you consent to that handling.

18. Changes to the Platform and Terms

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Platform, and we may update these Terms from time to time. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and your continued use of the Platform means you accept them.

19. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms or for any other reasonable operational or legal reason.

20. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at [New Delhi] shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Platform.

21. Grievance redressal and contact
